I/O 2017: New Android O Features Annouced, Beta Release Available For Download

Google unveils latest apps, updates and services

Google is unveiling the new feature at a conference in California on Wednesday.

In the conference, Google revealed its plans for the Android O Beta and unveiled the second developer preview for it.

"Google was putting forward a message about artificial intelligence and how they are including the technology in virtually every aspect of their products and services", said analyst Brian Blau of Gartner.

Now, Google is making Instant Apps a much bigger part of the Android OS - and it's opening up the platform to all developers. On Wednesday the company brought the idea back with Google Lens, an evolved version of the concept.

But Pichai and Google co-founder Larry Page, now CEO of Google corporate parent Alphabet Inc., see it differently.

Deep learning involves two steps: First, researchers train software on lots of data, like photos. This while people using its dominant internet search engine and leading email service have been feeding the machines valuable pieces of personal information for almost 20 years. The new Protect features make the security optimizations in Android more visible to users, with a prominent "Play Protect is scanning." indicator in the Play Store, and displaying a clear "no problems found" card to verify that there are no harmful apps installed on a user's device.

Citing reliable sources, Android Police had reported earlier on that the tech giant was planning to launch its assistant this week during its Google's I/O conference.

However, Siri has a major advantage over Google Assistant due to the fact it is built in to iOS.

At Google I/O today, the company announced a new feature for Assistant and Photos called Google Lens. If you live in another country, you can get a cheap Android phone and run it using the lightweight version of Android O or an upcoming operating system.

Uses for such technology are countless: according to Pichai, the app will be able to, for instance, recognize and identify a flower you are going to snap a photo of. Or point the camera at the exterior of a restaurant and it will pull up reviews of the place.

Pinterest has a similar tool.

Both companies announced they will update their existing line of appliances in order to use Google Assistant to control them.

Notification Dots are also a new addition, which is a non-invasive way to let you know there is something new within a particular app. Users can look at the notification in more detail by long-pressing the app icon or just slide down from the top as usual.

Google really wants to own digital photo management: Google's already injected AI across its Photos app, and now it's doing more.
