China Daily said that National Security Agency of U.S. should carry some responsibility for the attack which marks susceptibilities in Microsoft Corp systems and has septic about 30,000 Chinese officialdoms till Saturday. (Note: the "Windows Update" section is also handy for showing you updates that are now being downloaded or applied.) Under "Advanced Options", just make sure the drop down box is set to "Automatic".

We know that Windows update notifications get in the way of our work, which is why many users disable it on their system.

While you may have already read about WannaCrypt, popularly dubbed as WannaCry, ransomware, and Microsoft's response to the same, here's the story in short before we get to identifying who's at fault.

As the global WannaCry ransomware attack began spreading to computer systems around the world on May 12, Microsoft president Brad Smith quickly responded by publicly blaming part of the problem on businesses which don't keep up with critical security patches, leaving their systems vulnerable to attackers. Here's a quick look.

Currently, there is no permanent fix that could end the wrath of this ransomware, but here are a few pointers that could help you in protecting your Windows PC if it has not been attacked yet. Afterward, threats that the data will be destroyed or made inaccessible are made, if ransom has not been paid after a set period.

"As cybercriminals become more sophisticated, there is simply no way for customers to protect themselves against threats unless they update their systems".

Bitdefender claims that it has blocked WannaCry from the beginning. Microsoft says customers should exercise caution when opening mails from unknown persons.

Meanwhile, there is at least one thing the government and security experts agree on: People who have seen the dreaded WannaCry screen should not pay the ransom.

The hackers use tools stolen from the US National Security Agency (NSA) and released on the internet.

Alongside Dame Fiona's review, the Care Quality Commission's July 2016 Care Quality Commission review into cyber security "Safe Data, Safe Care" also highlighted the risk posed by outdated IT systems. Users might not be able to do much here. WannaCry demanded bitcoin to restore users' access to their hijacked files.

"You can point a lot of fingers, but I think given that this was not a zero-day vulnerability (for which no patch is available), the people hacked are to blame", said Robert Cattanach, a partner at the worldwide law firm Dorsey & Whitney and an expert on cybersecurity and data breaches.
