Defiant - and some might argue delusional - in the face of a 2-0 deficit to the postseason-perfect Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, the defending champions are sticking with their plan. Winning the championship is the only history on their minds as Game 3 Wednesday nears.
That's been quite evident through two games. If you create this player and you can do everything you want to do, you are probably going to create Kevin Durant.
James played 39 minutes in Game 2 and tallied 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting, 11 rebounds and 14 assists.
Last year Pachulia, exhausted of never having even reached a conference final, turned down richer contracts in favor of joining a talent-rich Golden State team he knew would give him his best shot at winning a maiden National Basketball Association title in his 14th season.
Klay Thompson shook off a shooting slump to score 22 points, and the Warriors pulled away late for another lopsided win.
Only they went 1-3 the next four games and lost to the Cavaliers, who they had beat the season before for the championship.
"So to slow up the pace would be changing who we are". "Like I've never seen before, (they) understand the task ahead and know that this is going to be the hardest game of the series". He has a great sense of humor. "They blew us out".
"I looked at the two rosters and thought, 'You have LeBron James and they don't; the Cavs are a much better team at home, and I felt if they could put some pressure on Golden State, they could turn it in their direction". The players are duping refs into making awful calls and it's embarrassing for the game.
"I'm averaging a triple-double in the Finals", he said. That will hopefully continue, as we hopefully continue go forward in our careers.
As I wrote in my column last week, this is LeBron's shot at establishing himself over Kobe as one of the five greatest National Basketball Association players ever. They're going to switch different guys on Kyrie, and he has to be great 1-on-1. We've got to protect home. "They're hardly doing anything." he says. Golden State has won 29 of its last 30, including the ongoing record-setting, flawless run through the playoffs. "You guys asked me, 'What was the difference?' And I told you".
Even the preparation is not set to change before Game 3, in some ways. Starting center Tristan Thompson went scoreless for the second time in the series.
By this time previous year, Cleveland had already one game won under their belt.
So far in Cavs-Warriors Part III, Irving has shot a combined 18 of 45 in Oakland, with nine assists and seven turnovers, as Golden State took a 2-0 lead. "No, it's not over".
James wouldn't reflect on how being down 2-0 this year feels compared to last year. "It's a small game and you got shooters everywhere and you have to be able protect the rim with LeBron coming downhill, with Love posting up and Draymond's on the bench".
"Tomorrow is another step in that direction that we need to be ready for".

Star duo leads the way for Warriors
It is performance art, and watching Durant and Steph Curry together occasionally moves the viewer to a place near levitation. Now Kerr is back, facing the very team that stormed back from a 3-1 deficit in last year's Finals to steal a championship.
