Microsoft Unveiled An Extra Gigabyte for Project Scorpio

12 June 2017, 08:12 | Kristin Schwartz

Microsoft could be trying to tease the console's release date here, if you assume "X10S" refers to Scorpio, and "101317" is the October 13, 2017 date. If it's true, the conference will be giving Microsoft something that the Xbox One has been sorely lacking for a pretty long time; notable Xbox-exclusive games to play. They've moved their media briefing a day earlier to this Sunday and just re-launched their Beam streaming service, now known as "Mixer" where it'll be livestreamed in 4K.

Electronic Arts (EA) will also hold a special event on Saturday at 12PM PT / 3PM ET to show off new Federation Internationale de Football Association 18 gameplay on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Microsoft's upcoming new console, which many expect to be an extremely powerful updated version of the Xbox One, is nearly guaranteed to cost gamers a fortune. You can subscribe to it via Apple Podcasts or RSS or just listen to this episode by hitting the play button below. We're expecting to find out more about Star Wars Battlefront II, FIFA 18, Madden 18 and the recently announced Need for Speed Payback. He also states that 50% of gamers have played a backwards compatible title on their console. If what they reveal at E3 proves that notion is possible, than "Scorpio" might very well be worth your money, as you might never have to save for another system again.

With new hardware unlikely, then, expect Sony to keep the focus squarely on the games.

That's a huge assertion coming from someone without direct ties to Microsoft, but it's the kind of information that someone who is a large part of the E3 2017 week might become privy to ahead of schedule.

There's also Knack 2, Days Gone and Kingdom Hearts 3 to look forward to.

Other announcements this year include the brand new Super Mario Odessy game, and Splatoon 2.

Top of our most wanted list for Nintendo Switch would be a new Metroid Prime game.

Microsoft's badass Project Scorpio is still 24 hours away from its official public unveil, but the fallout from the new console is already being felt.
